I am looking into buying a 2009 Mac Pro 8 core 2.26GHz, and have found one that I think I could fix. Here is what the ad says the problem is.

"The machine will freeze off and on when coming out of sleep mode.
It also freezes occasionally and requires a hard boot.
I pulled all but 8 gig and it seems to of stabilized the system
However, I will include the extra 24 gig with the system."

To me it sounds like a RAM issue, but are there any issues with this particular model that I should be aware of? Or what do you think would cause these problems?

One way "Not to be" taken by a charlatan is to have that person post an uninterrupted video on YouTube. Showing the MP with and without the "problem" ram installed!

It's somewhat risky specially if it's an online transaction. If you can find other sale ads of the same model from reputable sellers would be better. And as far as I know the 2009 8 core 2.26ghz are not hard to find.

I was looking at that same machine! I went against it and went looking for a different 2009
