if i own an iphone 6 plus 64 gb and a macbook pro 13" retina, is it necessary to buy an ipad 2 or mini?

Only if you think it is. Seriously, if you need/want the tablet then get one. I find that I still use my rMini but my phone does most of the heavy lifting.
 
For most people an ipad is a luxury item. So you probably won't need it. That said, it's a fun machine. Can't imagine myself on the couch browsing the web on a phone for a substantial amount of time. And I have a 5.5 inch phone. My ipad 3 and even Mini 2 are much more enjoyable. Same goes for a clamshell device. How do you lie down with it? Mini is super lying down. But no, you probably don't NEED it;).

Same here: I've got the 6Plus, MBP 15 Retina and iPad Air (1) and use all 3 extensively. I travel for work each week. The iPad is for planes, hotels while traveling and gets a lot of use at home too. Really wouldn't want to be without a tablet of some sort!
