To people who are jailbroken and are going to update to 5.1..

Why would you update anyway if you're jailbroken? Japanese Siri and a camera button on lockscreen, yay.
My question is directed to people who are actually going to update! I am just curious to see what happens when one does an OTA update.

But from what I heard from the Dev Team you cannot do an OTA update on a JB device. It will not let you and that is kinda of a good thing to avoid "accidents".
Im keeping my jb and 5.0.1 on my iPhone.
5.1 brings nothing new for my wants and needs.
When the un tethered jb is released then maybe.
I'll prob update itunes and leave it at that for now.

I hitted the update button on my jailbroken iPhone 4S..
Never thought about the fact I could lose my jailbreak
It downloaded for 10 minutes and went then to 'Preparing update', after being on preparing for some time I've got an error that it couldn't be installed.
Luckily, I still have my jailbreak!

Nice, can you post a screenshot of the error after it downloaded and tried to install it?
Sorry, I already dismissed the error message.
I didn't even reboot.
I think it's the same error as when you tried to update to iOS5 beta 4.

Just tried to update my iPad 2 (not jailbroken)..
And I got exactly the same error as for my jailbroken iPhone.
So maybe, the failed update hasn't anything to do with the JB.
Maybe it's just Apple's servers that are getting slammed.
However, it's weird it first downloads and gives an error while 'preparing'.
My advice: just don't touch that update button..

Trying to update OTA , JB 5.0.1, and the last 4 attempts ended in download error. Server related?
