How many of you use some kind of RAID setup for your audio scratch drive or Pro Tools audio drive? What kind of RAID do you use, and how do you like it? I'm pondering a few options and need some help.

im currently saving for 2 lacie 500gb d2 drives with the rackmount kit. use one as recording drive and have it mirrored to the 2nd d2. i think this is a basic raid:S I have a digi 002 rack.what are the options you are thinking?

Okay thanks this helps. I was possibly thinking of a RAID 0+1 vs. RAID 5 with four drives, but don't know if this is pointless for audio work.

Note that ProTools does not officially support RAID.

I tried with my MacPro with two drives using Disk Utility software RAID, and ProTools would not let the drive be recorded to or playback audio (as noted in the Workspace browser).

If anyone knows how this CAN work, please post. The drives really scream in RAID striped, but I think I'll have to keep them standard.
