I currently don't use more than 5GB of RAM at the very most.

I was watching the price of 16GB RAM halve from 6 months ago to $80 today.

For a "just because" upgrade, how much do you think I'm justified to pay?

Thanks.

What a stupid question. Just because you aren't justified to pay anything. You can do it anyway, I hope you do realize the stupidity of it.
More RAM needs slightly more power and you obviously don't even need 8GB.

16 gb RAM is something that only ultra top professionals would ever need. There is no chance a standard laptop user would require that much. Why spending money on something you don't need?

Yerp. Save the extra, what $50 and invest in an SSD :D

8GB is more than enough.

I have 16GB because I treat this laptop like a desktop and I push it.

It still amazes me that a laptop is capable of so much.

Just wish the MBP fans didn't suck.

Whoa, some of you guys put way too much into these replies. There is nothing stupid about considering more ram given the prices are falling and the possibility that the use on the system may change. Sure, there are drawbacks to using more ram, but make the choice based on the type of work you plan to do. 8 just doesn't cut it for me.

Wow!! Really no need for such harsh responses. Almost everyone has purchased something they didn't absolutely, positively, most definitely need at the moment because the price was such a great deal. Who knows, his needs may change in the near future. Wouldn't it be ironic if some unforeseen incident caused RAM prices to skyrocket. Give the guy a break.

I thought Don Rickles (RIP) was deceased..........
