I've been using an old USB3.0 Hub+Ethernet with a USB to USB-C adapter, before that, with an 2017 Macbook Pro, I had another USB 3.0 Hub connected similarly - after experiencing a swollen Macbook battery twice, I became super suspicious of anything power related

Lately I've noticed that when I left my Macbook unplugged, it dropped down a significant % overnight, so I decided to use an old USB Doctor to see the power draw - while my USB Switch that has my Keyboard+Mouse pulls 0.05A, the same setup over the hub pulls close to 0.2A - and even if you sleep the device, they keep on pulling, likely to keep the keyboard etc. alive so it wakes the device up

It's a very significant amount to pull from the device, I think to compensate, all these years, my Macbook's have been doing lots of 99%-100% charge cycles when idle

For this reason, I decided over not using any fancy Type-C Hub's with unknown power characteristics, I only need USB ports, so I'll just buy the simplest Type-C usb HUB I can, likely the "Baseus Cube Type-C"

And my humble suggestion to you all is to disconnect everything from your Macbook overnight, or whenever you can, to extend the device's life

I don't have a Type-C Voltmeter yet, but have any of you guys ever checked the power usage on your Hub's (and maybe Monitor's too, when idle)? I think more awareness and more information on idle/active power draws could help the community a lot!
