Hey! I have a 12 Pro Max 128GB. Itching to go for 13 Pro Max 256GB but struggling to decide whether it’ll be worth the change or not considering the 12PM is still new and kicking even after nearly a year.

Debate!

I upgraded from the 12PM to the 13PM because of the following:
  1. $790 trade in credit from Apple
  2. Fresh new battery
  3. New 12-month warranty
  4. 2+ hour better battery life
  5. Brighter 1000 nit screen
  6. 120hz screen for faster feeling experience
  7. Better low light shots on ultra wide
  8. Macro photo capability
  9. Little bit better zoom range
  10. Cinematic mode for videos of family
  11. Faster processor with possibility for an additional year longer updates
I figure I work my ass off with over 300+ hours of overtime on the year so why not enjoy life and treat myself to the latest tech? Especially when it only costs a little over $300 after trade in credit from Apple.

I was a little concerned about the weight but it’s no issue as it feels about the same when I packed down my 12 Pro Max for selling. Concerned as I’d like it a bit lighter then more heavy as the XS max to the 11 Pro Max already jumped a lot and then has continued. I think my dream phone would be a 13 Max as I could live with some of the camera features.

Other then that I think the upgrade is worth it. Screen - smaller notch - bigger battery. Better camera. Surprised by how many reviewers complained about the lack of higher frequent screen last year and this year it is barely mentioned. The smoothness for me is not immediately obvious but I find its interesting because of battery improvement.

One key thing for me to upgrade is the warmer display and the yellow tint of 12PM. Heard it’s improved for the 13 series. Anyone with hands on experience on this front?

I’m not surprised - same thing happened to XDR iPad Pro earlier this year (biggest improvements since 2018 being called incremental, because the design stayed mostly the same).
Influencers love to complain and be let down, they know it generates more clicks. Even my man MKBHD went to call the iP13 recycled (kinda jokingly but still). Sure, but there’s more changes on and under the hood than let’s say, hmm, iP4-4S, iP5-5S, iP6-6S etc.

I upgraded from my iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The reasons I upgraded were;
1) Better battery life
2) Brighter display
3) New 12 month warranty period
4) Better camera and features

I upgrade every year and trade in my previous device, this year I sold my previous device to MusicMagpie for a great price. I work 70+ hours a week for work and this is the one large luxury that I allow myself on a yearly basis 😁 if you upgrade then enjoy it

Same struggle here..
From one side I just love new tech and I know that the refund I will get now for 12 PM will be higher than next year. Also, lately we had a medical issue in the family that made me think- you only live once right?
On the other hand I've never upgraded iPhone year over year and assuming that current rumors for iPhone 14 are true this will be a "must" upgrade so upgrading 3 years in a row? And is the difference really worth it?
🤦‍♂️

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I upgraded from a 12 pro max, ProMotion is worth upgrading for, can’t go back to 60hz anymore.

BOY OH BOY!! they weren’t lying 🤤👇

The $790 credit, a second year of a blue offering, extended battery life, especially as I prepare to travel more again.
The rest (camera improvements, ProMotion, A15) are added benefits to the upgrade.

Do not upgrade. Keep using your 12 Pro Max. Up until last week it was the best iPhone ever made. Wait for iPhone 15 Pro Supermax which, according to my source, will be released in 2023. iPhone 15 Pro Supermax will be made in beautiful Colorado Gold color – mimicking the locks in the sell doors in ADX Florence.

Upgrading was an easy choice for me.
I’m in the upgrade program, so why not spend $58/month on the latest tech?

In all seriousness, the ProMotion display and better battery life had me sold! I expected those features in the 12PM, which was slightly disappointing…

I have the same attitude. I work hard. My wife works hard. I think she would agree with me that the iPhone is the most important computer each of us uses every day. It’s so easy and relatively inexpensive to upgrade every year now, why NOT do it? The carriers and Apple pretty much give you the full remaining price for last year’s phone because iPhones retain their value so well and make them TONS of profit in the grey market.

I think at some point Apple just rolls all their physical products up into Apple One as well. What you pay each month just depends on which/how many devices you have.

120hz promotion.
Simple. I wasn’t sure it would make much difference but it was immediately noticeable to me. Even my wife, who isn’t that bothered about phones, immediately noticed the improvement in the screen.
mots hard to describe but it feels like the screen is closer to the front and you are directly interacting with the content. So smooth.

I wouldn’t do it personally, but everybody has their own compelling feature that they feel is a necessary upgrade. You might see something you absolutely love this time around. I had a 12 Pro Max and swapped it out for the 13 Pro because of the physical size of the phone and no other reason. I always hold a phone for two years, so I broke my own upgrade cycle for no other reason than I got tired of the bigger size.

it doesn’t make sense going from 12pm to 13pm, they are to similar

although, i went from 11pm to 13pm which makes sense if you remember the 11 had 4 gig of ram and 12/13 have 6
also 11 was using intel v2 garbage modem, 12/13 are using qualcomm

i’m starting to believe the 2 year upgrade cycle is going to be the new standard.

I upgraded 12PM to 13PM and I am happy with it. The $790 trade in was a big part. I also wanted the better camera and video modes. Better, faster screen and battery are nice but not a big influence in my decision the 12PM was fine for me in these areas. I buy AC+ so my warranty just goes on and on anyways.
