My superdrive has become very fussy about what I feed it since I installed toast 7 has anyone else encountered this?

I have been using toast 6 previously with about a 95% success rate at burning disk (errors usually due to cheap media or Photoshop causing buffer under-runs).

Since installing toast 7 burning at 4X has become impossible I have to burn at 2x or 1x!! with no heavy swapping in-between applications. Also most of the disks I burnt with toast 6 refuse to read. Although other will read perfectly, the drive is just being really fussy about what I feed it now. Is this a firmware thing? I fear my superdrive has become posessed! how do I exorcise it??!!
