I was having some issues ripping some CDs in iTunes, so I turned to Toast (version 11). I've never used Toast to rip an audio CD before.
I always rip using Apple Lossless in iTunes. Always when I do this, I get different bit rates for each song (usually between 700-1100).
Using Toast's convert feature, I dragged the files from the CD into the window, and Toast began "extracting" them. Then I pressed the convert button and selected the options to create Apple Lossless files.
The result, once I copy the songs into iTunes, is that every song now has the same bit rate: 705 kbps.
Questions:
1. What format is Toast extracting the files into when I copy them from the CD into the Toast window?
2. Why are the bit rate results different using Toast vs. iTunes to rip? / Why are the Toast bit rates all the same for every song?
