Toast/.tivo help?

I just purchased Toast 8 and I was trying to load my DVDs onto my iPod from it. I realized you can't just move the video ts folder from the dvd disc onto the program to convert it to iPod format. After looking at Toast it looks like you might need .tivo files to convert to your iPod. I was wondering if there was any way to convert dvds to an iPod either with Toast or any other program. Thanks for the help.
