With the replacement of my iPhone 14 Pro Max goes the last thing I have that used the lightning Cable. 😁

I wish I had a count of all of the lighting cables I went through over the years. Especially in the early years, the cable was fragile; then Apple started doing the certified cable thing, and the cable wouldn't work or only charged. it was bad in the days before Apple had wireless updates for the iPod Touch and the iPhone. It seemed like with each PhoneOS/iOS update, the cable stopped working. It was not until Anker came out with their certified lighting cables that we started to get a cable that worked reliably and lasted at a fair price. I have been a loyal Anker customer ever since. I now use Anker USB4 cables. Not so much for the speed but the built-in hardware firewall they have. All of the Intel-certified cables have this feature but I am firm Anker customer.

I just remembered from the bad old lightning days. the Apple Cable was $20 bucks it was a fragile hunk of junk. cables started to come out, which were $1.50 each. What we used to do is purchase 10 of them, and out of the 10, maybe 2 of 3 would work. We were still ahead money-wise compared to the price of the Apple cable.

With MFi certification requirements for all Lightning cables it was even tougher for third party vendors to sell iPhone chargers and wired accessories and they also generally costed more than USB C cables and accessories.

Also cut down on universal accessory compatibility like USB drives and hubs ngl.

I also stopped looking at lightning cables wherever I’m at the tech section of stores looking for docks and stuff, only USB C and MagSafe.
