Today's news (or lack of) is great for competition. When the iPad 2 came out we saw what happened to all the other tablet makers - they got hammered or folded. It means Apple doesn't have much initiative to build the latest and greatest when all they have to do is bump up a couple specs and earn the same profits.

Today Apple had a chance to leapfrog the competition again and they failed! Other phones out there today are as good or better which means Apple really has to step it up with their next iteration to regain some market share. No LTE option means lost sales to LTE enabled phones. Apple just lost a sizeable amount of potential customers.

For myself and others, other good news was not selling our phones on ebay! I was thinking of eBaying my iPhone 4 to get the iPhone 5, but once I found out I wasn't eligible for a reduced price til Feb '12, I decided to just keep what I had. Now it's more likely that the next iPhone will have the redesign and I can score it for a cheaper price.
