Apple is offering an Apple TV promotion for new and returning subscribers for Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year. Eligible customers can get six months of Apple TV for just $5.99 per month, and there's only one day left to get this deal before it ends on December 1.

After the six-month period, the subscription price will increase to $12.99, which is the regular price for the Apple TV service. At $5.99 per month, Apple is discounting Apple TV by over 50 percent. The deal will be available through December 1 on the Apple TV website.

Existing subscribers are not eligible for the discount, nor are customers who have subscriptions billed through a third-party service. It's also worth noting that you can get a bundle of Apple TV and Peacock Premium/Premium Plus at a discounted rate this season.

I tried canceling my subscription but it doesn't actually run out for a couple of weeks. They still won't let me sign up again.

Good that the offer is there for returning customers too. Would have been great if existing subscribers were also given a month or two at lower prices. Anyway it is a great deal to watch some of the great shows on TV like Severance and Pluribus.

I’m a returning customer and it says I’m not eligible…

I previously cancelled my subscription, but I get the message, “you’ve already used your free trial for this account”. Oh well.

There is a similar promotion in the UK as well. Oh, well there was, it looks like it has just expired as well.

A tip for marketing numpties, tell people in advance when the closing date will be, don't just pull it unexpectedly: First glance, hmm, maybe, I'll think about it later; second glance (last night, "Offer ends soon" - too late in the evening for me to think about it then, I'll think about it tomorrow (and "soon" means in at least a few days' time, by any sensible definition)); today (after seeing MacRumors), oh, I'm too late. You nearly had me taking the bait eventually, but you pulled it away too soon (your loss)! Few people make up their minds immediately, most people need time to think through the pros and cons of any decision.

(And as the next series of For All Mankind still doesn't seem to be out yet, I can can quite happily live without the (sadly) few other things that Apple TV offers. It's really not a service that in any way justifies the current substantially increased price…)
