I dropped my iPhone in the toilet this past weekend. Long story.

It miraculously only has 2 problems:

1. It will turn on and be fully functional ONLY when plugged into the wall, but won't when it's not.

2. It won't go past the apple logo when plugged into my computer, and therefore won't connect to iTunes.

Will at least problem 1 be fixed if I replace the battery?? (I ordered on just in case.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially regarding Problem 2, which I am completely stumped by!

Thanks!

Dont waste any money on replacing the battery or other parts.
You never know what could have gone bad in there and guessing might waste more money and bring problems.
Just bring it to Apple and have them give you a replacement for $200

The battery was only $8. If it works, I will have saved myself the $200 it costs to replace it, and if not, like I said, it was only $8. I think it's worth a shot! :)

I agree. Just chalk it up to experience and move on.

It may work for a while then will die out within 6 months

Since the water got into the board, you will see the corrosion happening and taking the toll on the logic board. If you have already taken the bold step of opening up the iPhone, then do the Isopropyl Alcohol bath of logic board.
