I have been looking at this lens for a while, I currently own the Canon 10-22. Every time I have seen the 11-16 it was priced at about $650.
Today it is listed on Amazon for $1000.00. Any idea why such a big price jump in such a short time?

They do both have it listed at $599.00, but both are out of stock. I wonder if the new stock will be at $1000.00 or $600.00. I'm tempted to buy one off ebay now while the prices are still in the $600.00 range.
Anyone ever bought from ebay seller ogt-clan?

Any reason for the tokina over the Canon

I assume its the f/2.8 because everywhere else I read say's if you can afford the $$ go for the Canon.

Yup, I mostly shoot bands in smaller clubs, so the faster the lens the better, for my application.
On the rare occasion I get to shot major acts who have plenty of stage light the Canon would be preferable with it's longer focal length.

quite possible the $1k is just a holder until they get the actual product/pricing from Tokina. I would hold out on ordering or order elsewhere for now, but will be interesting to see what happens.

When you say you've been looking at the lens for awhile, how often do you check the prices?

Lens prices did increase recently, but this was several months ago. The price of lenses were adjusted for the rise in the Yen. :(

I guess I'd sat I've looked at it off & on for 3-4 months & as recently as 3 weeks ago when I rented one to make sure I liked it. It had always been $650.00 on Amazon over that time period.
