So...after five weeks and two days (not to mention the eight months I waited for a freakin' upgrade), my 8800 MacPro is due to be delivered tomorrow. Happy Valentine's Day indeed...

Man, I don't think I've ever gone through this much trouble to get a product before, so it better A) work perfectly and B) do everything I've ever dreamed it would (including my laundry).

Just have to do a little venting as it's really driven me to pounding my head into the wall. Called Apple last Thursday to ask when it was going to ship, as I knew far too many people (online and in real life) that ordered after me and were getting them before me. Was told it was going to ship out on the 12th, but for my trouble I would get $125 credit emailed to me and my shipping would be upgraded to expedited.

On Friday I got an email that it was shipping. I figured with expedited shipping I'd be getting it Monday or Tuesday, so rearranged my schedule at work to be home those days. Friday night I check FedEx to see when it was scheduled to arrive...and found out it went Ground and was going to arrive on the 14th! So call Apple to see what happened. They didn't know. But offered $100 refund on my credit card.

So I rearranged my schedule yet again to be off on Thursday afternoon.

Checked FedEx online yesterday to find out that Fed Ex was speedy and it was due to be delivered today...the one day I couldn't be home since I had a shoot all afternoon. So called FedEx to see if they could hold it as I work close to a facility (turns out I work near the express facility not the ground, so that didn't work). Also turns out that Apple screwed up - they didn't give FedEx any address other than my zip code and apartment number, so they needed Apple to call and do a change of address. I was advised to be on conference call so I could verify it got done and ask for them to delay delivery to the 14th.

Since I hadn't gotten my credit card refund or a credit e-mailed to me either, I figured I better talk to a supervisor. Wish I hadn't as she was...well...a royal bitch. Argued with me that Apple had sent the correct information and couldn't understand why she needed to call FedEx (ummm...it's Apple's policy that all address changes need to come from them?) and when she called FedEx she was rude and argumentative to them (she argued for five minutes with them about how Apple must have given them the address and to check all system entries...when it would have taken 30 seconds to simply give them the correct information). Then she really snippy with me about credits when I asked about them (I'm not holding my breath...)

Of course, FedEx attempted delivery today anyway...and of course it was a day when the elevator wasn't working so I am praying that the delivery guy didn't try to lug a 65 pound computer up and down five flights of stairs (I'd like it to come in one piece tomorrow...)

Sigh...say a prayer folks!
