I just updated to TomTom 1.7 and immediately noticed a (seemingly) random chime/bell sound that plays when I'm using it to navigate. It comes through even with the voice instructions off and i hear it every 5-10 minutes or so, but sometimes it will play 2-3 times in a row.

I have used TomTom for a while and don't remember this at all. Does anyone know what the sound is for? or how to turn it off?

Never mind, got it. it's a (new?) option that plays a bell sound whenever you are near a school or religious institution. Not sure I understand the logic for it to be on by default though. Easily changed in Settings --> Alerts

Thank you thank you Hockey guy

That Damn chime on Tom Tom that went of near schools and churches was absolutely driving me crazy. I could not figure it out for anything. I listen to my phone's AOL radio while I drive and that chime would scare the **** out of me because it would loudly come through the speakers. The Tom Tom people are *******s for making that a default chime. Who needs to know where the nearest church or school is all the time?

Thanks for posting that Hockey Guy

I noticed that before but did it default to ON after the update? Why anyone would want to know where schools/churches are at the rate must be either perverts or religious diehards!

Yes thanks for that MBHockey! I stopped using the program because I couldn't figure out what all the chimes were about. In my case it was going off every 30 seconds or so. How stupid to default that to on. Thanks again.

Thanks

THANKS so much Hockey Guy,

That dong has been driving me crazy. I don't use the app enough to remember to look into it after I have gotten where I need to go. But I did this time and I am happy to find a simple answer.

I will enjoy the peace and quite next time I need to use it.

Best, Schmoop
