I purchased the TomTom app for £31.99.

One of the stated features of the TomTom app is " Audio Output Switch : Easily stream all iPhone audio to the powerful speaker of the TomTom Hands-free car kit (or any other Bluetooth A2DP device)."

However, this feature is not present on the app.

TomTom say it is a known issue, refuse to give any money back and say they can be of no further assistance.

You have to use the iPhone speaker which is not great in a car. So Buyer Beware, you can't use Bluetooth on the TomTom app even though they advertise on the iTunes store that you can.

Thy keep saying 1.12 will fix the issue but they can't tell us when 1.12 will be in app store

Complained to Apple and they sent a short email within a few hours saying the money would be refunded in 5-7 days.

I always find Apple's service to be excellent, but a full refund seems a bit OTT. I would have been happy with a partial refund and Apple putting pressure on TomTom to fix their app or alter their false description. Maybe the full refund is because I mentioned I was buying TomTom partially because Maps does not work well in our region.

I guess Apple are not losing anything other than their commission.

On the other hand I just got a free app from TomTom, though one that is missing a feature I need.

Don't feel too bad about TomTom losing out. They were not willing to help, couldn't care less and part of the reason I was buying the app was that the new TomTom's we bought have rubbish touch sensitivity compared to the old models. I would sooner not use TomTom at all which will hopefully be the case once Maps is fixed. Which could be some time ......

Apple is the one company who has always fixed any issue I have had.

Where is the audio switch?

It is not present on my app. TomTom admitted as much.

I just turn on bluetooth and pair the phone with my stereo. I don't think you can be selective and set Tomtom audio to go via bluetooth and music via the dock connector, for example, if that's what you're trying to do?

strange, I can have the audio of my Tomtom app going over bluetooth to my car stereo.

Same here. I've had no issues with the turn by turn directions being broadcast in my car speakers when my iPhone is connected to bluetooth ever since I purchased the TomTom app over a year and a half ago.

Mine works over bluetooth ok. If I'm listening to music over bluetooth to my car stereo, the tomtom voice directions interrupt it no problem, exactly as they should.

The latest version of the app says that the following is a NEW feature:

" Audio Output Switch : Easily stream all iPhone audio to the powerful speaker of the TomTom Hands-free car kit (or any other Bluetooth A2DP device)."

On a nearly new Jag, a BMW and an aftermarket Parrot it will not send the instructions via bluetooth even though the iPhone 4S is paired and the calls go over bluetooth.

TomTom said it was a known issue. In the Audio menu the Audio output switch is not present.

TomTom told me it will be fixed in an update but they do not know when.

No, I was trying to keep it simple. It does not work on the version of the app I purchased.

Well, it doesn't work, the audio switch is not present and TomTom acknowledged it as a known issue.

The only two audio options are
i) fade music
ii) voice volume

The words TomTom use in the app store are "" Audio Output Switch : Easily stream all iPhone audio to the powerful speaker of the TomTom Hands-free car kit (or any other Bluetooth A2DP device)."

Ok, but that sounds like an option to send only the tomtom audio over Bluetooth, leaving music to play through the headphone socket or dock connector. That doesn't stop you sending all audio over Bluetooth, music included.

No.

Fade Music fades music during an instruction. You can toggle it to off to "disable this option to pause music for voice instructions or warning sounds"

Voice Enable is set to Off as default. You can toggle it to On to "enable this option to set the volume of voice instructions as a percentage of the music volume"

I am fully aware of what those options do, what I described is what the Bluetooth audio switch function would do if it was there. Frankly, I can't be arsed if you're going to get pissy. If you pair the phone with a hands free, as I have done, you can send ALL the phones audio over Bluetooth, including tomtom audio.

In your case you can send ALL audio, in my case you can't send ALL audio. On three different cars which is why TomTom called it a "known issue".

It's still not working at all on the 3 different car systems I can test it in.

Have you considered that the three cars you tested does not support A2DP? On my vehicle, I can make a call via bluetooth, but anything else such as music, TomTom, does not output via bluetooth.

Thanks. I did check. This is from the book for the main car.
