TomTom car kit

Ok so I have a iPhone 3G and an iPod Touch (1st gen).

TomTom do a kit for both.

Would either of the kits fit BOTH the iPhone and iPod? I dont mind loosing a couple of features from the phone if they both fit the iPod kit or vice versa.

I know the web site says "made for" but wondered if anyone had any real world experience?
