The credibility of that whole article is in question because of this:

Why does that affect credibility? The guy wouldn't comment on price so the author speculates. The rest of the info is first hand; Aux jack, gps chip in the cradle.

Apple has made a very big deal about in-app purchasing will allow companies to set up subscription-style billing. Pretty much every GPS app announced so far is using it. That doesn't mean TomTom will, but the guy clearly doesn't know what he's taking about when it comes to that, which casts a pall on everything else he wrote.

Uh, I think you are right, but I think he was comparing how ATT does it which is outside of App Store.

Ahh, thank you so much for that. I thought the iphone.tomtom.com website is sufficient enough.

Good thing I read this part as well

"Details regarding pricing and availability for both the application and the TomTom car kit for iPhone will be made available in advance of the products' launch later this summer".

We'll keep you informed...

So we just have to wait for their announcement about the pricing and so forth, too much excitement lol

The Car Kit also includes a built-in speaker that provides better audio quality and considerably louder output, making it easier to hear spoken directions.

Also, for text to speech; I think he wasn't referring to voice directions, but it being able to read any words on the map. Text to speech enables it to say anything, not just basic instructions.
