Hi

Just got a Toneport UX2, and I'm very impressed with the quality of the effects and "amps" in the gearbox software. Problem is, I don't have enough memory so I can only record low quality.

They say that 1gb is recommended (currently have 512) so that's what im planning on getting. But should I go for 2x512mb ram OR buy 1x1gb stick and use it with 256mb ram. With the last option I could even get another 1gb stick later on, but will not having two matched pairs impede the macbooks performance?

thank you

Get the 1GB stick. The performance boost of 1.25GB over 1GB (i.e., less swapping) - and the ability to later jump to 2GB - is much better than the marginal boost you get from paired RAM.

thanks, that's what I was thinking. :)

Exactly, and with the integrated graphics chipset, you can really use that extra RAM ;). Plus the marginal speed improvement with matched RAM is negligible when you consider the extra RAM you're gaining.
