too many beachballs

I have a mini, mbp, and a 2007 imac. The first two work flawlessy, and all are running 10.6 .

With my imac, I have way too many beachballs for no apparent reason. Mail and itunes are the main culprits, always freezing up, with safari doing it less often.

Any suggestions? Could it be someting Ive downloaded?

I also had similar problem. You might want to have a look at this thread. I finally reinstalled SL.
