I probably messed this up during setup of my iMac. Under "Devices" in the sidebar, both iMac and Macintosh HD are listed, and when I click on iMac, Macintosh HD is a subdirectory of iMac. Shouldn't only two devices be listed--Remote Disc and my iMac's name? The iMac's Screen Shot 2018-01-18 at 8.32.09 AM.png name is listed correctly under "Shared."

iMac is the computer. Macintosh HD is your internal drive. It’s not unusual to have both displayed. You can choose what is displayed by going to Finder Preferences > Sidebar. I don’t think High Sierra picked up your Sierra prefs correctly. Re-toggle them to make them stick.

Thanks, chabig. I recently set up a Macbook Air. My concern was that the sidebars on both computers were different, but I realize now I can customize each. I did that. All's well. Thanks again.
