Too many hard drives on Airport Extreme?

I have an airport extreme and just got a power usb hub and I have two western digital 500 gb external hard drives and a 1 tb western digital external hard drive. When I go to connect those, the screen kind of freezes and later and unknown error messages pops up. I'm wondering if this is just to much for the extreme to process or ???

I have two drives (500Gb WD and a case I change out the drive in) on a powered hub and have no issues. Never tried a third but this has been running for months with no issues and the WD is always on?
