I find it extremely frustrating and currently I can't even use my Apple Watch since if I'm on my Mac working and I get notifications they also vibrate on my Apple Watch.

Isn't there a way to turn off notifications on my Watch if I'm on my Mac?

The only thing that comes to mind is to use Do Not Disturb / Focus to turn off notifications while working at your Mac. I don't know of a way to do this automatically, and you'd have to make sure the Focus setting applies only to your phone/watch and not your Mac.

Apple Watch notifications will mirror those on your phone rather than your Mac, but are adjustable. My guess is that you have the same notifications set up on your Mac and phone and that you haven't turned off the desired "Mirror iPhone Alerts" notifications under My Watch: Notifications in the Apple Watch app.

The above won't stop Apple Watch notifications when you're on your Mac, but it will change what is mirrored from your phone, which for me helps a lot.

Yeah, so pretty much have to decide which notifications I get most often on my Mac and just turn them off on the Watch. Sucks

Just came on here to ask about this. The watch dings at every incoming message, which is excessive when I'm actively using another device where I'm already getting these notifications.

The mute switch works but does not affect the haptics.

The Mac, iPad and iPhone manage this correctly – even if all devices are set up to get the same notifications you only get them on the device you're actively using.

Surprised there's no way to manage this.

I actually have notifications sounds off, on my macOS. Even more so, since my iPhone and watch are so close to me.
I do have badge notifications for Work email on my macOS. But, on my iPhone and Apple Watch, no notifications for Work email...

Yeah I'm surprised too, especially since Apple preaches so much about their ecosystem and tight integrations. How come if I get a notification my Mac whilst I'm using it gets pushed to the Apple Watch instead of ignoring it which is what happens if one has their phone open?

The way to circumvent this is using Focus Mode and define that when I'm at home or at work then it disables notifications
