Took a gamble on a MacBook

I ordered myself a BlackBook yesterday to replace my old white MacBook from early 2006. However there are some oddities with it. First, in the about this Mac section on Lion, it shows a picture of a white MacBook. The date on the bottom is 2007, however when I look up the serial it says it is an early 2008 BlackBook. It's got the 2.4 GHz CPU which only came on the early 2008.

Only thing I can say is that the case was replaced. Can anyone with a BlackBook running Lion check the About this Mac section and tell me if it show a white or black MB?

That's too bad - I literally just listed one on eBay yesterday. Also have a 2009 MBA that my dad rarely used for work that needs to go to a good owner. I just placed a 120 GB SSD in it - it's actually really nice.

Anyway...this is what I have for the BlackBook: Photo attached.

If you wanted to purchase, I'd sell it for a few nickels - DM me an offer, I'd give you a good price. My mom used it for a few years before upgrading to a MBA.

The 2009 MBA SSD I could let go for about $225.

It could be that it was manufactured in 2007. If you check an app called Coconut Battery, it will tell you the manufacture date of the computer.

That would be my best guess.

I also do have a blackbook, 2.4 2008

it also shows a white macbook, however it does shows a "early 2008" instead of 2007.

if yours is 2.4ghz, then it is the final edition of the machine and is 2008.

Unfortunately I was not told that the battery lock was broken off, and in an attempt to keep the battery in place they used some of the strongest tape on it. They took it off before sending it to me but it's a mess now. Not sure what the best way to clean it is since it has all sorts of paper stuck to it now...

This just might mean that the design of the case has not changed since 2007. My mid 2012 MBP back case has a 2010 date, which is fair enough as aluminum unibody design has not changed since 2009-2010.
