And WOW!!!! what a difference!!!!! I did a archive & install with leopard, on October 28th, and haven't repair them since. Since then, I've had a couple of freezes (alum iMac), and photoshop always changed my permissions. So now everything is snappier and I have small thumbnails for icons, and I swear my screen is sharper.

Did you ever install the updates for Keychain?

Are you sure that it fixed any errors that were found because mine runs, it just never fixes anything.

No I don't use it.

You should repair permissions at least once a week, and after installing (or deleting, really) any piece of software.

That said, 7 minutes? It takes about 30 seconds for it to run on mine (in Tiger)...
