toolbar icons not working in safari

Help! Have been using safari without an issue on iPad 1 until yesterday. Now the new page, Bookmarks and add bookmarks icon do not work. The forward and back arrows do. Any ideas?

I would suggest you quit the app and delete all the apps on your multi-tasking bar and shut down your iPad. When you restart the iPad the RAM memory will be clear and when you restart Safari it should work correctly.
