hey guys.

What are y’all top 10 4K movies. Been picking up a lot lately.

For me it’s

John Carter
The dark knight
Black panther
Blade runner 2049

I've been going through this list and picking up holiday discounted titles that are 5 star video and audio rated.

Coco is visually spectacular (audio is 4.5) It's on back order right now at Amazon.
The Matrix. Particularly spectacular on an OLED display with all of those blacks.
Blade Runner 2049
Spiderman Homecoming (audio 4.5)
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

How come you have only rated the sound of Coco at 4.5?

2001 takes some beating , pq is stunning
Thanks for reminding me. I haven’t watched it but recently read that it’s breath taking in 4K.

Conversely Die Hard despite being 4K and Dolby vision has truly abysmal pq

I was taken aback at how awful it looked , tried tweaking everything and still just terrible...

Some classic films I'd like to see in 4K.
- The Sound of Music (1965)
- The Searchers (1956)
- The Trouble with Harry (1955)
- North by Northwest (1959)
- The Pink Panther (1963)
- Ben-Hur (1959)
- Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
- Charade (1963)

There are a lot of others. Many don't realize how stunning technicolor could be. I'm pretty sure all the above were technicolor.

Somewhat more modern movies would include the following. I doubt any were shot in Technicolor.
- The Last of the Mohicans (1992)
- Dances with Wolves (1990)
- Wyatt Earp (1994)
- Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003)
- Terminator 2 (1991)

I forgot I had Spider-Man. I have to rewatch it on 4K. Great flick

Check out Ralph Pott's reviews at AVSforum.com for 4k movies on disc. His take on pq and audio is nearly always spot on.

Black Panther isn''t in 4K yet :( As the vast majority of the Marvel films aren't except the licensed ones to other studios.

The Great Wall (when it was in 4K DD last year)
Blade Runner 2049
The second two Matrix
2001 (They've now produced a 8K version)
Ghandi
Laurence of Arabia
Life of Pi
Fantastic Beasts
Aliens: Covenant
Most of the Apple Aerial Screensavers when viewed in Dolby Digital :) You must set your default video setting so 60p 4K DD so they display properly because match type and frames doesn't work when the screensavers start playing.

Also not available in 4K on the ATV.....
VUDU has Last Jedi available in 4K and it plays fine on an Apple TV 4K. You have to play it from the VUDU app though, as like all Disney films, sync’d with Movies Anywhere, it comes over to iTunes as HD.

Another interesting find: Air Force One is available in 4K direct from Movies Anywhere, but is only HD on VUDU and iTunes.

You assumed we are all from the 'Murica :p Other countries are available :p

We don't have VUDU in the UK as far as I'm aware with other streaming services pretty much matches what is available on ATV. For the most part if you want to watch the Star Wars series in 4K you have to buy them on Blueray. Studios money grabbing by not offering 4K content on streaming services and especially the upgraded for free element on Apple's box.

Just bought Coco on iTunes. Although it's only HD, my gosh, it looks truly STUNNING!!!!!! The 4K upscaler in the Apple TV 4K is DAMN GOOD!!!
