I'm not so sure about that. Everyone and their dog knew who MJ was, just like other fictional characters like Mickey Mouse or Mario. I like a bit of old hip hop/rap stuff and I'm not sure on what tracks they both released.
Elton John, David Bowie I think will have a similar effect (less so Elton). But I dunno. MJ was big. Like epicly big.
