Top Applications for a college student

Hey everyone, I'm new to Mac..I have had windows for a long time and I finally made the switch! However, I was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what applications would be best fit for not only a first time Mac user, but as well as a student. Thanks alot!

Duff-Man says....as I replied in another thread just a few down from this earlier today - have you looked at the sticky thread at the top of this forum that says "links to software recommendation threads" - you'll find lots of info there so it's a good place to start for some general software info....oh yeah!
