Maverick re-imagned as a pacifist, Maverick resigning his commission as a result of the (first, or second) Iraq war, (and I know an officer who did just that), Maverick maturing sufficiently to no longer feel the need to measure himself by his father's achievements......

...these might be interesting stories, as they would imply some sort of actual character development, but no more gun ho nonsense please.

And yes: Give us Iceman's story.

Otherwise, my initial question (asked also by @Apple fanboy) remains: Are there no fresh tales, new narratives, original stories left to tell in Hollywood?

Some people complain that it seems it will not be an F-35 movie. There will be a LONG time to make a third one.

However, I will say, Top Gun was one of my all time favorite movies
