the good old story: pc user goes Mac ;)
only question remaining: what to buy?

use:
photo edit:
stitching raw files, editing medium and large format scans (16bit files). so file sizes from about 20 to 400mb input and 200 to 800 mb after postproduction

the moneybag is filled with about 2000 euros

so it's either a fast imac (3.06 ghz & 4gig ram) or a basic mac pro ( quad 2.8 ghz , 4 gig ram & geforce 8800)

which will work the best with PS CS3 / 4?
i'm guessing 2 3.06ghz working cpus are better then 2 (or 6) idling 2.8 ones ...

what about the upcomming mac pro's... any change there will be a basic +/- 2000 euro model?

so manny q's

ps: keeping my Eizo monitor eitherway ;)

I don't know about any updates, but I'd get the pro. Quad (4 X 2.8 ghz) is more powerful than Dual (2 X 3.06 ghz). More processing power, possilbe to get more and faster harddrives.

I think you should wait though.. the macbooks are DDR3 RAM now and I think there will be an update very soon to the Pro to put faster memory in them.

The Mac Pro update probably won't happen until March at the earliest and it may be later and will probably be more expensive.

I'd go with the Mac Pro over the iMac. Don't buy your memory from Apple.
