Thought I would post this for a bit of fun and interest, these are the top outbound links from this site:

Other stats for links on this site are here, too: http://boardreader.com/domain/macrumors.com

now how does ONE person's Myspace be linked to that many times? I could understand if it was JUST MySpace, but its MySpace.com/selilwildman

How does this work?

At first I thought they had some way of measuring how often a link on MR is clicked, but I realised it's only a link count.

Does their software crawl every MR page and add up all the links?

I would have though Psystar ads or the porn links would have ranked in the top 5.

I'm guessing clicked or it would have links to everything on there.

I think it's links that exist, as I can't see how they could measure clicked links without some sort of agreement with MR and other websites. (which I don't think they have.)

Website A links to website B.

The only way website C has of knowing what links in website A have been clicked is by having an information sharing agreement with A or B.

However, existing links are on public record.

I guess anything that's on public record, someone, somewhere will measure it.

Then how did rickrolls not get the most hits? Sure, there are a lot of links on YouTube to the music video, but they've been posted hundreds of times. One of those Rick Astley video links on YouTube must have been posted more than 50 times (I think).

How about all the people who link to Newegg or OWC in the help forums on this site?

Good points. I guess it's all rubbish then.

Or maybe it's only the past week's worth of links or summat. I don't think there's been many rickrolls recently.
