Looking at getting a new Mac, I have my eyes on both the retina 27 iMacs and the base model Mac Pro - though can only buy one!

How would the top iMac with the added i7 compare to the base Mac Pro model?

Then there are the two retina iMac models, the newer 2015 and late 2014 one. I was looking at the late 2014 version and bumping it to the i7. Many thanks

The Imac spanks the quad core nMP see the benchmarks here.

However if you are using software that leverages the dual GPUs in the nMP for huge calculations or graphics acceleration etc you may well be better off with the nMP.
Won't be doing any hardcore graphics or scientific work on it, would much prefer a specd iMac than the base Mac Pro (which would be even more money to upgrade!)
