hi so i just got an iPad 3G as a gift a few days ago and when i use it for more than like 20 minutes the top right area (near the volume control) gets kinda warm, is this normal ?

It depends what is found in that location. If its the battery, processor or SSD then it shouldn't matter as these parts always get hot through use.

well i dont know the iPads anatomy lol but it gets warm on the right side of the ipad (mostly like on the top half of the right side)

Depends which way you are holding it, but this should help. To me it could be the battery.
