Just had a topcase replacement for keyboard failure on a 2018 model. They told me they put a new 2018 topcase in. I thought they replaced them with 2019 now.

Is there any way I can check, which topcase I got?

Best bet is going on YouTube and checking sound comparisons (I think).

I doubt Apple will replace it with a 2019 even if they put in a 2018.

Next time around then... This was my 5th topcase replacement and I will sure as hell keep servicing them as they fail until 2022.

Putting this abomination of a keyboard on a premium laptop is unacceptable.

On the upside I think after 4 or 5 major repairs they upgrade you for free (if they no longer sell your model and if you complain enough).

Quoting that from one of Luke Miani’s videos on YouTube.
