Well, I want a BitTorrent client... pretty easy to find.

Well, I was using Transmission, however for some reason it freezes on me when I open it.

So I try to get BitTorrent... Nope, none of the servers work to download it.

So I download Azureus... Well, it's pretty good apart from the fact it doesn't work. It just opens the icon in the dock and dies straight away.

For god's sake, all I want is a friggin Torrent client.

Trying, trying...

I just had a thought though. I could just download a Windows Torrent client and use my XP installation on my iMac.

Torrents are used for illegal things, so you won't get help here - you should know that as a 6502 -- that's 500+ posts. C'mon now.

EDIT: jessica is the 6502, sorry.

But it's still not allowed to talk about illegal things on here. NO TORRENTS =).

Torrents CAN be used for illegal downloads they can also be used for perfectly legal downloads,so the programs can be discussed here.

I'm not sure which version of Azureus you have james but try looking on this page:

http://azureus.aelitis.com/wiki/index.php/Intel_Macs

That's the right call. I can confirm v. 2.4.0.2 has been working spotlessly on my intel machine for quite a while now...

There are many legal uses of torrents. Here are some examples:

On that note, computers are used daily for illegal things, so let's shut the forum down altogether, right?

Seriously, could you at least wait until Sunday for the sermon?

Bits on Wheels is amazing. Then again, I'm a snob who hates ported/non-Cocoa applications (I'm looking at you, Java apps)

My vote: Bits on Wheels

You should know, as a 6502, that talking about torrent applications and "why are my torrents so slow?!?!" is perfectly acceptable here.

I currently use Azureus, 'cause I like the torrent management features it offers. I had problems with some versions in the past, but the last few versions have worked out great. I'm currently using 2.4.0.2.

A friend told me that he is running it on his MacBook Pro - so it works for at least someone on a Intel Mac.

Good luck!!!

so did you ever get your torrent clients to work?

I had the exact same problem with Azureus (app quitting as soon as it appeared in the Dock), and a reinstall of Java fixed it.
Hope this works for you.

I'm using transmission - does exactly what I need and no more. Just the way I like it!

have been using BitTorrent since I first heard of this whole phenomenon... guess I'll have to give Bits on Wheels a spin, if it's all that...
