thanks guys... I have a question though what's the major differences between different clients? what makes one better than the other?

thanks
MaT

I installed uTorrent on my Mac, since it's what I use on my PCs. I tried Transmission, but it seemed too basic for me. uTorrent seems to be more robust and configurable.

I'd say those are the two big torrent clients for Macs. I'd recommend installing them both, and comparing them side by side to see which suits you best. Both uTorrent and Transmission are good programs, so it basically comes down to personal preference.

Back in the day when I used Windows, uTorrent was my choice. Since switching to Mac and configuring Transmission, I use it. I really like the turtle feature ;)

I like transmission but I'm going to switch to utorrent soon. Transmission seems to choke when you have too many torrents going on at once. I used to use utorrent on windows a few years ago and was great. I'm a power user so transmission doesn't really suit my needs.

I tried out utorrent and I prefer the interface and features but it seems slow compared to transmission. I tried using both on the same port at different times and transmission seemed to always be faster. Anybody have any reasons for this?

The main problem that I have with transmission is that it has a tendency to choke under a few simultaneous transfers. I liked using utorrent when I had a windows machine and it was faster than either transmission & utorrent on the mac.

Transmission is faster for me, too.
