I'm looking for a portable solution to my sort-of-dying 4TB Seagate 3.5" backup drive. It seems there ain't many 4TB drives in 2.5" factor except Toshiba showing up on OWC site. I would love to go SSD route with an 860 EVO but 4TB is prohibitively expensive for backups and cold storage.

OWC Toshiba 4TB HDD 2.5"

Plan to pair this with my existing OWC Mercury Elite mini enclosure.

Anyone here uses this 4TB drive can comment on its reliability...?

The larger 2.5-inch platter drives seem to have not the greatest reliability compared to the smaller sizes for whatever reason (more parts maybe?). However, the Seagate Barracuda ST4000LM024 would also fit your criteria if you are looking for alternatives. I have a few of the same in the 3 TB size and while I use them for Time Machine I don't have a tremendous amount of faith in them or any large 2.5-inch drive. For important stuff, I use my 2 and 4 TB Samsung SSDs, although for sole use of a backup drive it is hard to justify a SSD IMO.
