Toshiba portable wireless ssd as Time Machine back-up?

Anyone with experience of the "Toshiba 128GB Canvio AeroMobile Portable Wireless SSD" as a back-up with Time Machine?
Is it possible to copy the ssd to a sd-card in the card reader (I guess this will take some time)? And using the sd-card as an expansion, if possible, will also have a speed issue? (sorry if this is the wrong forum)
