Feral Interactive has said that they shall be releasing Empire: Total War on the mac app store on September 13th for $39.99!

I was wondering, when do you think they will release the other total war games.
I don't know how much longer i can wait for medieval total war.

Is it worth it to get the programs that run PC software on the mac to play these total war games while i wait?

Thank you

Yes, and No

Cool. Rome Total War is one of the best games ever, and ETW sounds great.

I would guess never. The cost of converting is higher than the sales they'd get. Particularly as these games are several years old.

Boot camp is the way to go for games. I wouldn't bother with Parallels or Fusion or Cross Over or Wine for games.

As Feral have ported two Total War games and they both have been popular with fans I would guess differently myself...

Makes sense. These are some of the best strategy games ever released. Medieval 2, Napoleon & Shogun 2 should all do very well on Mac, esp after the loss of a number of strategy classics like AoE2 due to no Rosetta on OS X Lion.

If Mac gamers generate enough sales of Empire, akin to or preferably bettering the success of Rome, it seems highly likely we will see more. Also, porting an older game like Medieval 2 shouldn't take as long as Empire.

Theory and practise are separated by reality. That's a very zen way of saying older games can be easier in some ways but the older code can also be harder in others.

Cheers! It appears that in my case, theory, practice & reality are separated by wishful thinking & a lot of hope. :) Obviously I don't work with code, but I appreciate that porting any game is a major project.

The suggestions/votes for Med II have been added to our fan requests list btw.

It's out now on the Mac App Store! Has anyone tried it yet?

We have thousands of active players now without any major issues reported. You can check out our Facebook wall for reviews from some players in the last few days. The MAS reviews are also coming in now.

I would say it's brilliant but you should really read the comments from others yourself as I might be biased due to me being involved in making it. :)

Looking forward to it greatly, but I'm getting the boxed DVD version.

Here in the UK, still on pre-order from Amazon.

On just checking Amazon's site in the US, seems to be a similar wait there with a stated waiting time of "within 1 to 4 weeks".

Oh well. Having waited so long, what's a few weeks more.
