Is there any news of what will be included in the 2.0 upgrade at all?

Or will there be no annoucement until it's released?

Had a look around but not able to find any details.

Aside from the ability to download apps nothing is really known (that I'm aware of).

i have not been following Touch news lately.....when is this 2.0 firmware coming out?

My original firmware from September is kind of buggy now...i need an upgrade but dont want to do anything until 2.0 comes out.

Do we know what will be included with this new software? Other than the ability to buy 3rd party applications.

Touch 2.0 Upgrade

Thanks for the info

My original touch had died and i got a replacement this week so i've not been keeping up to date with the news.

Pretty exciting really, even only the fact we can now have some new apps without jailbreaking which i chose not to do for some reason.

I guess the exchange facility will be usefull for some too although i have a blackberry so i'll keep using that as i only have the touch and not the iphone.

I don't mind paying the fee at all, my opinion is if i was selling a product and was releasing updates i would expect to be paid for the work i have done, i can understand some people are against it but hey, thats my opinion.

Cheers.

I understand the concept of push email, but what are push calendar and push contacts?

Same thing really, when a contact or a calendar is updated at the central server those changes are pushed instantly out to the phone. It's great for large companies who need to keep everyone on the same page.

Have a look at the roadmap event video to see a demo.

Am I correct in thinking the 2.0 upgrade is out tomorrow or Tuesday?

Obviously I started this thread but can't seem to see a release date anywhere.

Thanks.

There is no release date...

OK cheers. Noticed earlier today on some random forum it mentioned Monday/Tuesday but must have been speculation.

I presumed as i hadn't seen any release date on here it was probably rumour.

Well, I'm sure that tomorrow, you'll either have 2.0 or you'll know when it's coming. That will end all of these stupid rumors, at least for the next month.

So does a jailbreaker give more or less than what is offered?

IMO, if you have to ask that question, you're probably better off waiting for Apple to make it official.

Jailbreaking undeniably gives you the *potential* to do everything that was listed there, but you still have to either write all the associated software enhancements yourself, or else scour the web looking for trustworthy sources for all that software. And there will be no guarantee that the software you ultimately assemble will have been designed to play nicely together without hurting overall system stability. Not to mention, if anything happens to go wrong, you'll be on your own without any official recourse for help in fixing it.
