iPod touch touch 2g thinks its in dock

So whenever headphones arn't plugged into the headphone jack on my ipod touch 2g and even sometimes when they are it thinks its in a dock so i cant control volume and it wont play any sound. i have restarted and respring but it didnt help. do I have to restore? any other ways? is there a cydia app that fixes this?

Dock connectors have nothing to do deal with the headphone jack, it seems that you have some trouble in your headphone jack.

Moisture has gotten in the dock. It may dry out, it just depends on the severity of it.
