I am using a 2019 MacBook Pro. This is the Intel machine with the Touch Bar. After installing Sequoia v15.7, I am noticing this behavior with regards to the Touch ID.

In previous versions when the MacBook wakes up from sleep, I place my finger on the Touch ID button and it immediately unlocks. Now in Sequoia v15.7, the MacBook will not unlock when I place my finger on the Touch ID button. This is despite the Touch Bar saying "Unlock with Touch ID". macOS wants me to enter my password to unlock my MacBook. I have to wait for another 30-45 seconds before the screen says "Touch ID or password to unlock" where the Touch ID can finally unlock my MacBook.

Has there been a change to the Touch ID functionality?

Same here with my 2018 MacBook Pro! I have found a reddit and apple community post about this issue - seems to be a common problem with Intel Macs. 15.7.1 did not fix it - I hope Apple fixes it soon!

I am on a 2018 MBP and am experiencing the same delay with touch ID working for login. The response to logging in from Apple Watch is also corrputed. It shows screen text saying it is logging in from the watch, but hte screen doesn't unlock.

What is interesting is that it works when I put the computer to sleep and then wake it up (immediately thereafter). Only an isssue when the system goes to sleep on its own.

Since we are all on legacy systems, I am not hopeful that the issue will be corrected. Sad, since it wasn't broken till Macos 15.7 was released.

I also have this issue, but it seems to have started before updating to 15.7.

For several months now touch ID would never work when I woke the MBP from sleep by raising the cover. But after the MBP was awake and operating touch ID would work just fine for logging into apps, etc.

No idea why - have just been living with it.

I haven't updated yet, but I'm hopeful. Will report back after I do the update.
I updated to 15.2 three days ago. I'd say the touch ID is fixed now. It doesn't work every time, but at least 80% which is satisfactory for me.

Thanks for the help!
