I know that Rene Ritchie has previously commented that any M1 Mac should be compatible with the Touch ID keyboards that came out with the M1 24" 4.5K iMacs. The Apple Platform Security document from this past May seems to corroborate this as well albeit not outright. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success using any of these keyboards with a T2 Mac? I'd think that the requirements would merely be a secure enclave which T1, T2, and M1 Macs all have in (what I'd assume is) equal measure.

Not sure where I saw it, but pretty sure Apple stated that they’re only compatible with Apple Silicon Macs.

Rene Ritchie tweeted to that effect and then all of the Mac rumor/news sites reported on that tweet. The Apple Platform Security Guide mentions the M1, but doesn't use language to directly imply that the T2's secure enclave wouldn't also work with it.

The Touch ID of the new keyboards is not compatible with Intel Macs regardless the generation of their security chip. Apparently you can still pair a keyboard with an Intel Mac, but the Touch ID will not be active. It was briefly mentioned at the Keynote when Apple introduced the new iMacs, and there are some reviewers who also tried this with Intel Macs. It works fine with M1 Macbook Air/Pro.
