Touch ID not working on iPhone 6

I have an iPhone 6 and thought that it was just the charger since I am using a 6 foot rock candy charger instead of the one that came in the box. But that's not it because my iPhone 5s works just fine with this charger. I even tried using the apple charger and still no luck. It just doesn't recognize that there is a finger waiting to be scanned. It won't work when making a purchase either. The force touch thing works where I double tap the home button and the screen moves down. I just got this phone about a week ago, so I have no idea what it could be.

If rebooting or resetting settings doesn't do the trick you might want to have Apple take a look at it.
