Touch ID on iPhone

Evening all

I'm new to Touch ID on an iPhone and I wondered if this was just normal behaviour. I click the button to wake the phone and keep my finger pressed upon the button for it to scan my print. What I find is I then have to press the button once more to get in, it seems sometimes it's like 3 clicks!!

Then there's the odd tune I'll press , it'll scan and then let me in straight after the scan.. maybe I'm just not getting the correct technique?

this was changed for IOS10

you can go into settings and put it on hover like it used to be (settings/general/accessibility "home button" turn on "rest finger to open"

And if you have a 6s or 7 you can turn on raise to wake so you never need to press a button at all to wake and unlock.

It's an adopted 5s
