Hi All

So for various reasons. I had to replace the top case on my Late 2016 15” MacBook Pro to get a new keyboard.

I did the replacement myself, during the replacement which went mostly fine, the battery suffered a bit of damage whilst removing it so I’m using the laptop on power cable only whilst waiting for the battery.

my question is, does the Touch ID/ power button require the battery to be in to work? I can’t get the fingerprint reader to activate in preferences nor the machine does not respond to power on/off

Same with the TrackPad, It works, it moves it clicks etc but I can’t get it up in preferences nor does it feel right. In preferences, it just keeps looking for a Bluetooth trackpad.

all the ribbons looks fine on both items so I’m hoping it is just the case of the battery not being present?

waiting for new battery to arrive.

Just to add to this

The battery arrived and things like the trackpad being seen has now rectified itself

I’m still waiting for a new Touch Bar to come Does the power need the Touch Bar installed to work?

I’m also now stuck in a critical update loop that appears to be related to the Touch Bar I’m hoping it’s because the Touch Bar is not physically their and thus can’t install and update.

I’ve tried re installs, formats etc
