This has happened 2 times in the past day, I'll be on a call with my ear to the phone, move the phone down to access an app to find the screen unresponsive, solid black, and the volume/home buttons unresponsive. once the other party hangs up the screen and buttons become responsive again. Not sure if it is a bug or a sensor not working right but kind of annoying. Running 16.0.1 on a 14 pro

I would honestly ask Apple about it. It could be a bunked proximity sensor. They can typically run mobile diagnostics that can detect issues with things like this. If it is in fact a bad prox sensor, I would get it addressed since the phone is still new.
